Bowling Green Closures
As many of you are aware our bowling greens have not been in the best of condition this season. We have scheduled major work to be done on both greens during Autumn, Winter and Spring. Consequently the greens will be closed as from Thursday morning (28th September) with only the top green becoming available for winter and floodlit bowling.
BOTTOM GREEN
Closed from Thursday 28th September 2023
Open Monday 18th March 2024 (provisional)
TOP GREEN
Closed from Thursday 28th September 2023
Open for winter bowling Monday 16th October 2023 (schedule to be circulated)
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but this essential work should ensure we have a better playing surface for the 2024/25 season..

WINTER SOCIAL LEAGUE 2023/24
COMMENCING TUESDAY 17th OCTOBER & WEDNESDAY 18th OCTOBER
2 SESSIONS EACH DAY – 10.30am and 11.45am
Thank you to everyone for replying to tell me which days you want to take part in the winter bowling programme for 23/24.
We have enough people to run both the Tuesday and Wednesday leagues. However, we will run the leagues in a different format this time.
We want to be able to include as many people as possible to be able to play and to alleviate the problem of trying to get a specific number of players.
We will still have teams and a captain, but instead of playing team against team, both teams will pool together and players will be drawn before each session. This means that you could play anyone within the mix of the 2 teams.
We will base the games on the number of players in total. For example, if there are 8 people from Team A and 8 from Team B (16 players) we will play 4 doubles matches. If 6 people from Team A and 5 from Team B (11 players) we will play 1 triple, 2 doubles. However many players there are from both teams the games will be arranged accordingly so that everyone who wants to play will get a game.
This format doesn’t lend itself to running a team results table.
Let's hope it's a really mild winter!
